Timascus

A trademarked patterned titanium — multiple titanium alloys layered and worked, then heat-coloured to reveal a multicolour, swirling pattern. Closely related to mokuti; Timascus is a specific registered material name. Use it only when the material is genuinely Timascus.

Density / weight impression

Titanium-light, around 4.5 g/cm³.

Machining behaviour

Specialist material; difficult and costly to produce and finish.

Surface behaviour

Heat colouring brings out blues, purples, golds, and greys across the pattern.
