The city in five crafts
DL EDC’s 鸣音 Guangzhou limited builds its faces from the Lingnan intangible-heritage set “three carvings, one colour, one embroidery.” The front carves the modern city three ways: warm wood-carving for the kapok, the city flower; white ivory-style carving for Canton Tower piercing cloud; green jade-carving for the awakening lion.
The reverse lays Canton embroidery symmetry over gold-weave Guangcai porcelain work, a deer-and-crane spring motif at centre for peace and prosperity; the corners stitch flowers and birds, lychees and old coins for the single-port trade era, and both ends carry the Cantonese-opera Monkey King face-paint. A city’s craft memory, compressed to pocket scale.
